'We're going to make you an offer you can't refuse'. Well, this used to be Mafia country, after all. In fact, Hollywood descended on this part of the world to film scenes for the Godfather trilogy, so this tour will take in two Sicilian mountain villages that made it onto the silver screen and to relive some of the the most famous scenes.

Little more than ghost towns, these Sicilian villages are virtually abandoned these days. First up will be little Savoca, where you'll find the church where Michael Corleone – played by Al Pacino – got married in. You'll walk in his footsteps as you discover the winding alleyways, and even sit in his chair in Bar Vitelli.

After a glorious ride through the countryside, you'll soon arrive in medieval Forza d'Agro, a small mountain village, where you'll see the Church of Annuncation, also of Godfather fame. Even if you're not a fan of the films, the views from these clifftop villages are second to none.

Heel 'toeristisch' om te doen natuurlijk, maar nog steeds leuk en onze gids Michaela gaf tijdens de rit naar de dorpjes toe genoeg andere info over Sicilië en haar geschiedenis om het interessant te maken. Pluim ook voor Mario de buschauffeur die de grote tourbus behendig door de haarspeldbochten en nauwe straatjes wist te manoeuvreren.

Enthousiaste, vrolijke gids (Fabio) verteld prachtige verhalen, zowel over de Godfather als over het verleden van Sicilië. Prachtige route door de bergen, drankje bij bar Vitelli en het kerkje en de straten herkenbaar uit de film. Hele leuke dag gehad!

Ik vond de Godfather Tour in Sicilië echt prachtig. Het ging niet alleen over de beroemde filmscènes, maar er werd ook veel verteld over de geschiedenis van Sicilië en de bijzondere locaties die we bezochten. De gids bracht alles op een leuke en interessante manier en ik heb echt genoten van de combinatie van film en cultuur. Een aanrader voor iedereen die van The Godfather houdt en meer wil weten over het echte Sicilië!
